The Nepali people belong to more than 102 ethnicities, castes and other groups and speak more than 92 living languages. Amidst sweeping political and social changes, it has become more important than ever before to define oneself along ethnic lines. How can the Nepali people safeguard themselves from short-sighted, power-hungry identity politics? ‘Being Nepali’ s a portrait series that confronts us with the idea of a Nepali identity in the new Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.
